Announcement and CALL FOR PAPERS

1998 International Symposium on Signals, Systems, and Electronics

ISSSE '98

September 29-October 2, 1998 - Palazzo dei Congressi, PISA, Italy

"Co-Design of Radiocommunication Terminals: From Waves to Silicon through DSP"

It is likely that by the year 2010 the number of wireless communication links for information transmission will exceed the number of wired ones. Each and every wireless communications application, be it high-speed point-to-point or switched cellular, terrestrial or satellite-based, UHF or mm-wave, has benefitted in terms of spectral and power efficiency by advances in VLSI, microwave and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) components and techniques. The ultimate goal of the radiocommunication engineer is currently to exploit the sinergy of those advances through clever co-design of different, previously separately-designed subsytems.
The Symposium will develop through parallel oral and poster sessions in the three main areas of DSP-based Communication Equipments and Systems, VLSI Design and Components, and Microwave Theory and Techniques. The main (but by no means exclusive) topics will be:

* HW/SW co-design
* Modem Design
* Integrated modules and elements
* Signal Detection & Synchronization
* Data communication circuits
* Wireless Channel equalization
* Wireless transceivers
* 3rd Generation Wireless Radio Networks
* Digital signal processors
* Source & Channel Coding
* Advanced technologies for RF circuits
* Integrated Design Tools
* Hybrid µwave techniques
* Automotive Applications
* Broadband access systems
* Numerical & CAD Techniques
* DSP for smart antennas
* Satellite applications

Five copies of tentative contributions should be received by the publications manager Filippo Giannetti at the address on the left no later than the submission deadline shown below. Papers should not exceed 3000 words (roughly 6 two-column camera-ready A4 pages including figures) and should be written in English, which is also the official language of ISSSE'98.

Deadlines:

Paper submission: April 15, 1998
Notification of acceptance e-mailed: June 1, 1998
Camera-ready due: July 15, 1998
