To understand is to perceive patterns.
Mario G.C.A. Cimino received the M.S. degree in Computer Engineering and
the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy)
in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
During his academic studies he spent a year in designing and implementing the
PIC3 mini-robot whereby he participated in two editions of the
IPSIA
Fascetti national competition on robotics, and subsequently he spent about a
year working for the M.S.R.M. Regional Park as a
software developer and system administrator. After the M.S. degree, he worked for
the
Department of Information Engineering of the
University of Pisa in designing and
developing relational and robust
fuzzy clustering algorithms, until December 2003.
From 2004 to 2006, as a Ph.D. student, he was involved in the area of
Information Systems
under the CERERE project, until March 2006.
Since April 2006, he spent six months as a visiting PhD student in the
Electrical & Computer Engineering Research Facility of the
University of Alberta,
Edmonton (Canada), under the supervision of Prof.
W. Pedrycz,
for a research activity on
knowledge based clustering. He has taught several academic courses
as a teaching assistant
and a seminar lecturer;
he has been BS and MS thesis advisor
on Computer Engineering and Management Engineering.
He also has taught courses in private software companies.
He has been reviewer for

He is reviewer of research projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA CR).
He is consultant for private and public companies.
Since January 2007, he is with the
Department of Information Engineering as a member of the Computational Intelligence Group.
He is currently involved, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, in the fields of Mobile Information Systems,
