Mario G.C.A. Cimino is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa (Italy). He received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2007. From 2003 to 2006, as a Ph.D. student, he joined the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa designing and developing relational and robust fuzzy clustering algorithms. He was also involved in the area of Information Systems under the CERERE project, until March 2006. Since April 2006, he spent six months as a visiting PhD student in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Research Facility of the University of Alberta, Edmonton (Canada), under the supervision of Prof. W. Pedrycz, for a research activity on knowledge based clustering. He has taught several academic courses as a teaching assistant and a seminar lecturer; he has been BS and MS thesis advisor on Computer Engineering and Management Engineering. He also has taught courses in private software companies. Cimino participated to the following research projects: FORMAT (2004), CERERE (2004-06), INNO.PRO.MODA (2007), JOB ACADEMY (2007), VIRGOAL (2008), TRA.S.P.(2008-09), INFOBOX (2008-09), TIME TO FASHION (2009-10), MANUNET (2011-12), PRIN 2012 (2013-14), PMI3.0 (2013-15), SMARTY (2014), MIT-UNIPI (2015-16), PRA (2015-16), SCIADRO (2016-18). He is reviewer of research projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA CR). He is consultant for private and public companies. From 2008 to 2012 he was involed, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, in the fields of Mobile Information Systems, Business Process Analysis and Computational Intelligence. From June 2012 to December 2016, he was with the Department of Information Engineering and the Center for Logistics Systems as a Researcher in Information Systems. He is also a research associate at the Institute for Informatics and Telematics (IIT) and the Institute of information science and technologies (ISTI) of the Italian National Research Agency (CNR). He is (co-) author of more than 50 publications.
